sister "Servants of the poor " at Karadi

Sisters / Nuns of India

There are a variety of different nuns in India with slightly different missions but all have the same goal,  sharing the love of Jesus Christ with the world.

This particular convent is run by the Servants of the Poor sisters. Their mission is to uplift the poor. There are a total 700 Servants of the Poor in 4 provinces in India. At the convent of Karadi there are four  sisters along with their mother superior. Their superior is acting coordinator for 39 villages.

These sisters serve orphans, the mentally challenged, HIV and AIDS afflicted as well as those who are handicapped and suffering from malnutrition.
There are 32 young ladies at this particular content in Karadi ranging from grades 1 through 10.  The school is predominately Hindu in nature with only four of the girls being Catholic. The girls do attend Holy Mass and recite the rosary before bedtime in the evening.

Unlike the villages which lack any form of indoor pluming forcing men, women and children to use local fields and road sides all Catholic boarding schools have indoor lavatory facilities for the children. Once attending the Catholic schools children are forbidden to go to the bathrooms outside. These young ladies do however sleep as well as eat on the floor due to lack of resources. Notice the desperate need for shoes.
